Forging Clamp
The forging clamp or forging clamp tool is one of the important and highly used equipment in the butt welding operation of rebars.
The function of the clamp in the forging welding operation is to align the two rebars to be forged.
The forging clamp is made of alloy steels with high hardenability.
According to the Japanese standard jis z 3881 and the national standard for gas pressure welding of rebars, a standard clamp must have the necessary resistance against heat and pressure, and must not warp or break.
The rebar holding screws must have the ability and strength to secure the rebars and properly hold them during the forging operation and pressure application, so that the rebars remain completely fixed in place and do not slip. The tips of the rebar holding screws must be designed to fit completely between the ribs of the rebar and hold firmly. An important point about the rebar holding screws in forging clamps is that they are conical and convex, because any holes or excessive crushing caused by the clamp screws on the rebars are considered defects and reduce the strength of the rebar.
The movable jaw of the forging clamp must have an appropriate stroke to align the two rebars.
The adjustment screws located on both sides of the movable jaw must be able to hold the movable jaw without bending or crushing.
The internal spring of the forging clamp must have sufficient power to return the movable jaw after the forging welding operation is completed.
The weight of the forging clamp should be such that it is fully portable and does not cause fatigue to the clamp operator during daily operations. (Having large and thick clamps does not necessarily mean higher quality and efficiency of forging clamps, because the designer must be aware of all construction items of equipment and consider the optimum state.)
