Sodium carbonate is a white solid compound with the NA2CO3 formula. It is produced by a combination of sodium and carbonic acid (with H2CO3 chemical formula) and is therefore called carbon acid sodium salt. In ancient times, it was obtained from the ashes of plants growing in sodium -rich soils. Sodium carbonate in water is soluble and its solution produces moderate alkaline water.
