Petro Arses Company is a manufacturer of limestone, quicklime lumps, quicklime powder, hydrated lime, and also precipitated calcium carbonate.
The company's current daily production is 250 tons, and on average 5,000 tons per month are exported by ship and container to Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Iraq, Bangladesh, and India. Part of the company's production is also sent for domestic consumption and supply in bulk and packaging such as bags, sacks, jumbo bags, and pallets.
What is Limestone?
Limestone is a rock formed from the sediment and transformation of the skeletons of marine organisms, abundantly found in the earth's crust (especially on ocean beds). Chemically, limestone is a calcium compound with the formula calcium carbonate or calcium magnesium carbonate (dolomitic lime) and is completely insoluble in water. It has alkaline properties and exists in forms such as calcite, aragonite, marble, travertine, and more.
The importance of limestone is due to its wide range of applications, chemical and physical properties, reasonable price, and abundance.
Origin of Limestone Formation
The origin of all calcium rocks, including lime, is the bone organs of creatures that lived millions of years ago in the seas, especially corals and reefs. The pressure and temperature at great ocean depths create conditions suitable for the formation of calcium minerals. Also, some impurities like clay, ions, iron oxide, organic materials, etc., can cause color changes in limestone. Morphologically, limestone can have granular, clastic, and crystalline structures depending on its formation method. Limestone constitutes about ten percent of all sedimentary rocks on Earth and mostly exists as bedrock and the main component of caves.
