2. Chemical reaction: These oils, which are chemically triglycerides, react with an alcohol (usually methanol) and in the presence of a catalyst.
3. The final product: This reaction converts large and heavy triglyceride molecules into smaller and lighter molecules called methyl ester , which is biodiesel . The by -product of this process is glycerin, which is used in other industries.

This chemical process produces a fuel with very close to fossil diesel (diesel) but with unique benefits.

High Cetane Number: The number is the quality of the diesel fuel combustion quality. Biodiesel typically has a higher number of fossil diesel.
