Types of Polyethylene Fittings
Polyethylene pipes have a wide variety of fittings that connect the pipes to each other, creating a network of interconnected pipes in various projects. Some of these fittings include:
Threaded fitting
Clamp fitting
Threaded connection
Sewage welded fitting
High-pressure welded fitting
Electrofusion fitting
Various fittings specific to drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation
Polyethylene fittings come in two models: welded and threaded, including tees, elbows, flanges, reducers, cross fittings, and more.
Welded Polyethylene Fittings:
Another method to connect two polyethylene pipes is using welded polyethylene fittings. As the name suggests, these fittings are made of polyethylene and, given the extensive applications of polyethylene pipes, these fittings are also widely used.
Applications of Polyethylene Fittings
Water Supply System: Polyethylene water pipes are used for water transfer in urban, rural, and intercity systems, making welded polyethylene fittings common in water supply.
Gas Transfer: Polyethylene gas pipes are used for gas transfer or export, and welded polyethylene fittings are used to connect two pipes.
Chemical Transfer: Since polyethylene is resistant to chemicals, acid corrosion, and alkaline substances, polyethylene pipes and consequently welded polyethylene fittings are the best choice for chemical transfer.

Features of Fittings Used in Polyethylene Pipes
Very high resistance to cracking and breakage that may occur due to external pressure on the fitting body
Resistance to chemicals and rust
Flexibility and low installation cost
Quick installation without the need for heavy and specialized tools
And more...
Due to their numerous advantages, polyethylene fittings have gained significant popularity and application. They are used in water supply and sewage pipelines, gas lines, industry, underwater installations, electrical and telecommunication cables, and more.
Here are some of these advantages:
High strength and long lifespan
Cost-effectiveness
High durability and resistance in harsh and variable temperature conditions
Leak-proof due to welding connection method
Resistance to chemicals
Types of Polyethylene Fittings include:
Welded polyethylene fittings: This type uses electrofusion welding to connect pipes and fittings.
Threaded polyethylene fittings: As the name suggests, this method uses bolts and nuts to connect pipes and fittings and prevent leaks. Despite its wide use, welded polyethylene fittings are more popular.
Water supply polyethylene fittings: Used in water transfer systems, for example, widely used in water and sewage companies.
Drip irrigation polyethylene fittings: Used in agricultural fields and plant irrigation.
Although all factors affecting polyethylene pipe prices also influence the price of these fittings, polyethylene fittings are very diverse, and their prices vary greatly depending on model and application. Since most problems occur at the fittings, high quality and performance should be carefully considered when purchasing polyethylene fittings.
Types of Polyethylene Fittings include:
Injection fittings
Electrofusion fittings
Corrugated fittings
Threaded fittings
Sewage fittings
Advantages of Polyethylene Fittings
Polyethylene pipes offer desirable properties such as low weight, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, high impact resistance, and superior flexibility. Other characteristics and advantages include:
Easy Handling
Polyethylene pipes are easier to transport and install compared to other options, offering significant cost and ROI benefits. The density of polyethylene is about one-eighth that of steel, so heavy lifting equipment is not required during installation. Thanks to their excellent flexibility, polyethylene pipes can be bent without additional fittings, making them easy to install in uneven terrains and continuous lengths.
Reduced Installation Costs
High-density polyethylene systems can be welded into seamless, leak-free pipes requiring fewer fittings, saving significant labor and installation costs.
Thermal Fittings
Polyethylene pipes are thermally joined, creating a connection stronger than the pipe itself. Electrofusion is a reliable welding method used for polyethylene pipes, offering significant installation advantages over traditional pipe materials.
Corrosion and Chemical Resistance
Polyethylene does not rust, corrode, or support biological growth. Compared to traditional pipe materials, polyethylene pipes have excellent chemical resistance, resisting corrosion, acids, bases, and salts. They are also unaffected by fungi and bacteria, providing resistance to organic materials.
Pipeline Rehabilitation
Trenchless technologies also use polyethylene pipes and fittings to repair old and damaged pipelines. Various technologies are available for rehabilitating old pipelines, including slip lining and pipe bursting, both excellent techniques for restoring or replacing and upgrading existing urban infrastructure.
Trenchless Installation
Traditional piping systems are installed via open cut (trenching), causing traffic and environmental disruption. Polyethylene pipes can be installed using this traditional open cut method or environmentally friendly trenchless technology.
For trenchless installation, a device drills a continuous horizontal hole underground. When the drill head reaches the hole's end, the pipe is attached and pulled back through the hole. The flexibility of polyethylene pipe, combined with outstanding tensile strength and abrasion resistance, makes it the preferred and proven choice for trenchless installation technology. Pipes can be installed under streams, rivers, lakes, roads, or straight paths with minimal environmental and public disruption.
Compared to non-plastic pipes installed by open cut, a leak-free polyethylene system installed using non-invasive trenchless technology is more cost-effective.
Advantages of Welded Polyethylene Fittings
Long lifespan: Polyethylene generally has a long life, so properly welded polyethylene fittings can last close to 50 years.
Easy installation: Another reason for the widespread use of welded polyethylene fittings is their easy installation using a welding iron.
No size limitations: Electrofusion fittings in Iran have size limitations, but these fittings do not, making them popular.
High resistance: Due to polyethylene's high resistance to pressure, temperature, chemicals, and UV rays, welded fittings share these advantages.
Low cost: Cost is a key factor for any employer in a project, and the low price of these fittings has made them popular among employers.
